Il castello di Montegiove è esistito fin dal 1200 ed è stato negli ultimi quattro secoli proprietà dei marchesi Misciattelli. E’ il centro di una tenuta che comprende circa 1200 ettari di verde campagna umbra, dove boschi di querce, vigne, oliveti e terreno arabile sono in totale armonia con muri a secco e case coloniche in pietra. Si produce vino, olio d’oliva, cereali, foraggio e legna. La campagna è attraversata da sentieri ben marcati e di differenti lunghezze per ogni genere di passeggiate; da notare l’abbondante fauna selvatica che comprende cinghiali e caprioli, mentre la flora include tartufi e funghi. La bellezza del paesaggio e l’ambiente incontaminato non lasciano immaginare che Montegiove è a soli 17 Km. dall’autostrada A1 (Milano – Napoli) che raccorda anche Roma con Firenze.
The castle of Montegiove
has existed since the early 12th century and has for the last four centuries
been the property of the Marchesi Misciattelli. Today, still family-owned, it is
the centre of an estate covering nearly 1200 hectares of beautiful Umbrian
countryside, where oak forests, vineyards, olive fields and arable land blend in
total harmony with ancient dry walls and farmhouses built of local stone. The
principal products of the estate are wine, olive oil, cereals, beef cattle, oil
seeds, forage and forest products. There is abundant wildlife such as wildboar
and deer, and the local flora include truffles and mushrooms. At the surrounding
land you will find marked trekking footpaths of various lengths. The beautiful
surroundings and unspoiled environment make it hard to believe that Montegiove
is only 17 km from Italy’s main motorway A1 (Milan – Naples), which also
connects Rome and Florence. |
